This is the first of the two intermediate classes in the 4-part Sewing Series happening in May. The series takes place over three consecutive Mondays: 5/4, 5/11, and 5/18, with the final intermediate class held on Thursday, 5/21. You can join one, two, or all depending on what you want to accomplish!

This class marks the transition from simple structured sewing into garment construction.

You’ll begin learning how fabric becomes clothing through measuring, basic pattern understanding, and how different pieces are intentionally shaped and assembled. We’ll move slowly and clearly so you can start to understand the logic behind garment making, not just the steps.

The focus of this level is construction and proportion: learning how to translate flat fabric into wearable form, and how structure changes when it begins to follow the body.

You’ll be able to complete a small finished project if you decide to take only this class. If you decide to attend more in this series, you will be able to complete a more complex project such as a fully constructed garment with additional shaping and detail.

If you only take this class, you will make a simple beginner garment such as a boxy top or loose shirt base that introduces you to wearable construction in a foundational way.

You’ll leave with:

A completed introductory garment

A basic understanding of garment construction and pattern logic

Confidence to move into Intermediate II or continue independently
